THAILAND TRAVEL NEWS: Travelers passing through Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport have been advised to allow extra time for security processing following the attempt to blow up a Delta Airlines Airbus A330 on approach to Detroit on Christmas Day.

Lieutenant Narongchai Thanadchangsaeng, deputy director for operations at Suvarnabhumi Airport, said passengers should allow at least three hours for check-in and security processing ahead of flight departure time.

In line with increased security measures world-wide, passengers using Suvarnabhumi Airport will be subjected to increased security checking, including checks by security staff at the departure gate immediately before boarding the aircraft Lieutenant Narongchai said.

He said the international restriction on no more than 100ml (about 3.3oz) of liquids, and gels was being strictly enforced, as to was strict x-raying and physical frisk searches of passengers. Drivers and passengers entering the airport will also be subject to random security checks, including breathalyzing.
