THAILAND TRAVEL NEWS: Situated one hour from Phuket international airport on a pristine one kilometre stretch of beach, the JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort & Spa will become the fourth Marriott managed property to open in Thailand when it commences operation on November 1.

The 298-room JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort & Spa comprises four blocks of guest-rooms delivering spectacular views of the resort’s two lagoon-like swimming pool areas and lush tropical grounds.

Finished to the usual high Marriott standard, all rooms feature teak wood and Thai silk throughout, as well as modern comforts such as 40-inch LCD flat-screen televisions, high-speed internet access, and a balcony, with ground floor pool access rooms providing direct access to the swimming pool area .

When it comes to dinning options guests are well catered for with seven restaurants and bars to choose from, including three themed restaurants serving Thai, Japanese or Mediterranean cuisine with views over the Andaman Sea, as well as two pool bars and an open lobby area and lounge with its own deli-bar.

The JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort & Spa also features 15 double treatment rooms in the beachfront Quan spa facility, each with their own private changing rooms, as well as a yoga studio and beauty salon.

The resort also boasts a club lounge with an outdoor terrace, a business centre, a kid’s club, a fitness centre with an aerobics studio, two flood-lighted tennis courts and a squash court, and a 288sq.m ballroom.

The JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort & Spa is offering visitors to the Phang Nga Province resort up until December 20, 2009 a number of opening specials including an introductory rate of Bt5,300 (about $US158)++ per night for a pool view room, with guests staying for four nights or more being upgraded to a pool access room. The special offer includes breakfast for two people each day, as well as free internet access.
