THAILAND TRAVEL NEWS: Free hotel accommodation in Thai Muang and a 50 percent discount on hotel rooms in Khao Lak is being offered to any divers wishing to join an attempt to set a world record for a mass dive in Pha Nga Province on April 3.
It is hoped that more than 3,000 divers will join in the event, part of a festival being organized by ‘Have a Good Dream Co Ltd’, producers of The One Ruam Thai Jai Diew Gan program seen on Thai TV Channel 9.
Situated immediately next to the island province of Phuket, Thai Muang, location of the record setting dive attempt, is about one and a half hours drive from Phuket Town and the producers are offering free air-conditioned bus transport for divers from Bangkok.
The current world record is held by Indonesia, after 2,486 divers took to the waters off North Sulawesi last August.
To break the record divers need to stay submerged at depth of 10-metres (about 33ft) for more than one minute. If the record is broken those taking part will receive certificates, and have their names published in the Guinness Book of World Records.
The record breaking dive event will be broadcast live by Thai TV Channel 9, with international news networks Phang Nga governor Yiamsuriya Palusuk, and an adjudicator from the Guiness Book in attendance.
Those wishing to find out more about the event contact the Phang Nga Provincial Public Relations Office: +66 (0)764.113.88.
