THAILAND TRAVEL NEWS: In an attempt to get visitors to Thailand to spend more time in the nations capital and explore the many attraction on offer, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration is to introduce two value added initiative schemes.

The two promotions were announced at the annual Thailand Travel Mart (TTM) currently being held at Central World’s Bangkok Convention Centre until June 7.

The first will be an all-day pass valid for all boats travelling the Chao Praya River for Bt150 ($US4.40) and the second a Bangkok Smiles Card – a city wide discount scheme.

Deputy governor in charge of social affairs for the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), Taya Teepsuvarn, said the two promotions will be introduced in the next month.

The Bangkok Smiles discount card is planned to involve about 1,000 companies and will provide discounts on a range of goods and services  including golf and spa packages, tours and even medical treatment.

The Bangkok Smiles slogan follows the very predictable and unimaginative City of Smiles and the Land of Smiles themes used in the past and which have built a world-wide branding image for the kingdom.
