Around the night of the end of the Buddhist lent, glowing reddish fireballs can be seen rising a few hundred meters into the sky from the Kong river at the border of Udon Thani province and Laos.
Known as the Naga Fireballs, it is believed the balls are shot by a serpent, Naga, living in the river.
This annual phenomenon will take place in October, along with many other activities to celebrate Awk Phansa Day, including a procession for the Naga, cultural performances and the Tak Bat Thevo alms giving ceremony.
There will also be a long boat competition held on the Kong River on Awk Pansa Day.
