Chiang Mai and Sankampaeng district will be set to welcome visitors to this 26th annual event.  The “Borsang Handicraft Festival 2009” will be held on January 16-18 within the Borsang Handicraft Village and along the street of Samkampaeng road.  This is a great chance to shop for some local handicrafts while enjoying this unique local event.

The festival offers a vibrant atmosphere, local arts and handicrafts displays, fantastic food, and a healthy measure of local charm.  This handicrafts center is one of the most well-known carving hubs in Thailand. Theirs colorful displays include trademark colorful paper umbrellas and many other local products made of Saa paper. The Borsang Handicraft Festival also features an umbrella design contest, exhibition of Borsang village history, Thai cultural and traditional performances, concerts, local food festival, and a beauty contest.

Visitors will enjoy the charm of classic northern Thai lanna hospitality.  Borsang, also spelled Bosang, is located about 10 minutes east of the Chiang Mai superhighway on the SanKampaeng Road.
