In Thailand the orchid is one of the most popular flowers, appealing to both Thai people and foreigners. The more well formed and beautiful an orchid is thought to represent the good nature of the owners, as well as their skill in growing and caring for these delicate plants. Nowadays, Thailand becomes a worldwide exporter and the fame of Thai orchid flowers continue to gain popularity.

On 24-26 July, 2009 the Department of Agriculture Extension, participating with Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), will host the Thailand International Orchid Innovation Show (TIOIS) at Hall 8, Impact Arena (Muang Thong Thani) in Bangkok.

TIOIS is the first important business-oriented tradeshow for the orchid industry to be held in Thailand. The aim is to promote and expand orchid markets, to set standards and qualities between growers and customers, and also to illustrate the beauty of Thai orchids to visitors.

The exhibition will display innovations of Thai and international orchid growers, including latest orchid varieties, new orchid production technologies, ornamental plants and related products. There will be presentations from orchid researchers and seminars on orchid markets and orchid production innovations. There will also be an orchid contest as well as a sale of orchid plants, ornamental plants, and related products.
