Come Learn About the Thai Dairy & Cattle Farming Industry, Western Country Style
The Dairy Farming Promotion Organization of Thailand plans to entertain all cowboy-hearted visitors by celebrating the Muak Lek dairy festival in country & western style. Muak Lek, one of the districts in Saraburi province, is located in the Central region of Thailand, north of Bangkok. The farmers in Muak Lek have pioneered the vast area in the hills of Saraburi to refine farming of imported cattle since the 1950s. Nowadays, Muak Lek is an important area for dairy farming and producing fresh milk to supply a large percentage of milk products across the country.
The Dairy and Cowboy Festival will be held during January 1-31, 2010 at the Dairy Farming Promotion Organization of Thailand facilities at Muak Lek. The festival will attract hundreds of cowboys and cowgirls from over the country as they come together to share their experiences. The highlight of the festival will be Cowboy Night, on 20 January, at the Tapan Hill venue located in front of The Dairy Farming Promotion Organization of Thailand.
The exhibition part of the event will feature displays of dairy and beef farming, cattle contests, whip-cracking, roping and lariat show, fancy gun handling, and a dairy cow contest. The venue will use haystacks in place of furniture and visitors will experience a variety of country & western musical entertainment.
Visitors can also learn the practical aspects of dairy farming and there will be several lectures from cattle experts in the fields of dairy feeding, forage crop production, cattle breeding, milk collection and processing, disease prevention, farm management, and much more. Of course there will also be the carnival atmosphere of a good old fashioned country fair.
The Dairy Farming Promotion Organization of Thailand (DPO) is a coordinated project established by Thai government and Danish Dairy Farming Association. The DPO is also open to visitors on a regular basis as an agricultural attraction (agro-tourism) if you are interested in learning about the history of this industry in Thailand and the ongoing contributions the organization now makes to the worldwide dairy industry.

Hi Jhonny, though the easiest way to get to site is by a tour operator, you can go there on your own as there are frequent buses from Bangkok leaving from the northern bus station to Pak Chong. From there you can take a songthaew to the park gates. Trains also leave from Bangkok or Aythaya. The ordinary train takes around four and half hours from Bangkok.
